Meet the Creators
Let Go to Let Grow was shaped through collaboration, conversation, and years of learning—both inside and beyond the classroom. This page introduces the creative team behind Let Go to Let Grow, bringing together the thoughtful storytelling of an author and the expressive vision of an illustrator.
Together, Gina Kwon and Sarah Lei, the book author and illustrator creators, offer different perspectives while exploring the same questions about growth, balance, and the courage it takes to let go. This is your chance to truly meet the creators behind the story.
Gina Kwon, author of Let Go to Let Grow, is a teacher, writer, and mom who finds meaning (and often humour) in life’s everyday lessons about holding on and letting go. With over fifteen years in education, her work reflects deep experience in guiding children toward learning as both exploration and self-reflection.
This Gina Kwon author bio reflects a life shaped by classrooms, relationships, and quiet moments of reflection. Her debut picture book, Let Go to Let Grow, draws inspiration from the experiences she has lived and the emotional wisdom she has gathered along the way.
The story is also influenced by her classroom practice and by the gentle insights of her inquisitive six-year-old daughter, who reminds her daily of the wonder found in small, everyday moments.
Gina lives in Ontario, Canada, where she continues to teach and write—collecting simple moments that inspire stories for young readers and families alike.
Sarah Lei, illustrator of Let Go to Let Grow, is an architectural engineering graduate and structural designer currently based in Toronto, Ontario. While her professional work focuses on concrete and steel, her creative life has always been rooted in illustration, drawing, and visual storytelling.
This Sarah Lei illustrator biography reflects a balance between precision and creativity. After completing her degree at the University of Waterloo, Sarah continues to explore artistic expression alongside her engineering career, finding inspiration in both the built environment and quieter, everyday moments.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring nature with her dog Diesel, discovering new places to eat, and recharging—whether outdoors or during a cozy movie night.
Sarah is especially proud to have illustrated Let Go to Let Grow, written by her former teacher, Gina Kwon. This collaboration felt like a full-circle moment and reconnected her with the creative spark that first shaped her love for art.
